This was my 2nd trip to Honolulu and I had a blast. The hotel location is perfect. Walk out the back and you're on the beach. Good dining options and entertainment. Duke's has awesome food and a great breakfast buffet for cheap. Not the largest of pools, and in the evening they close one of the patios for their evening entertainment-live music. Hit up the smaller bar above Duke's for happy hour (wish I knew of this at the start of the trip). Catamarans and other beach activities are also located right outside the back door. Highly recomend taking a catamaran ride. Awesome ocean ride with a great view for dirt cheap, and pick the one with drinks included. Only complaint is with the rooms. Partial ocean means "PARTIAL". Ocean view room means "VIEW," as in you can see it, its not an ocean front room. Also, the room seemed a little dated, could have used a more modern tv but it was very clean. The balcony is kind of small but it works. Lots of music at night, so if you're one that whines about noise on vacation, this may be a beef and cost a star or 2 on your review. My first trip I stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki which had nicer rooms but it was not as lively as the Outrigger at night. Sheraton was more up to date, but food, night life, and prices were way better at Outrigger. Also if you have a late flight, the hotel staff will hold your bags in a locked room (for free) so you can enjoy the day without lugging them around. All excursion pickup locations are within walking distance. Would definitely stay again!

Best thing about the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach is its location. This Outrigger hotel is not only right on the beach, but in the best part of the famous Waikiki Beach. Other neighboring high-end hotels are also located on the beach but their beach sections are quite inferior. On top of that, just across the street Kalakaua Avenue is the International Market, an amazing bazaar type shopping areas with hundreds of exotic gift shops and eating possibilities. Tons of shopping opportunities surounding the hotel, ranging from luxurious specialty stores, mutistory malls, to convenient shops. For my my wife and daughter, the hotel location is ideal, one minute tanning on the beach, next minute shopping around. The hotel itself is clean providing the expected service for this class, I personally like the free High-speed Internet servive that you have to pay in other comparable hotel.

First of all let me say that this hotel is very beautiful, the staff is fantastic, and the location is perfect. My problem was with the room view. I paid a lot of extra money for their "Ocean View" room and my view was of the alley and dumpsters behind the restaurant next door, and the back of the hotel behind that restaurant. We could only see the ocen from the balcony, and even then it wasn't a very good view. I've stayed in Hawaii many times at many hotels and most places would call this a City View, or Partial Ocean View at best. Upon check-in it was recommended that I upgrade at significant cost to a room with a better view. That was before I saw my room. Bait and Switch if you ask me. I asked to speak to the manager at check out and was told I'd have to call later. This manager told me she would have the genearl manager call me back. Two weeks later and no call. The managers did not seem to care and said some rooms have better views than others. Basically too bad and thank you for the extra money you spent for their idea of an Ocean View room. Because of this lack of caring by management, I would never stay here again, nor can I recommend the Outrigger to anyone else. There are plenty of true- Ocean View rooms nearby, and many at better prices as well. Just be careful. To the rest of the staff there, Excellent job!

Our stay at the Outrigger in April 2010 was very pleasant. Even though we had an "Aloha city view" We could easily see the ocean and beach from our Lanai - just not the sunset. The lights from the city at night were beautiful too. We were on the 12th floor - and although we thought noise from the city would keep us up at night it didnt. The bathroom was insanely small. Smaller then the bathroom we have in our 1 bedroom apt. ONE person was all that could fit in the bathroom at once. The linens and towels were nice. The cost of renting either an umbrella or chair for the beach was expensive. For example, two lounge chairs and umbrella was $*/day. The pool was nice, but always crowded. We had to get there early in the day to get a seat. Best drinks in town: Moose Mcgillicudys for $* mai tai's. The breakfast buffet ($15)was great and we ate there twice. All in all a positive stay, be prepared to spend and plan ahead though.

Everything was great expect for the elevators. they need to manage these much better. waiting up to 5mins+ for a free elevator is not good service.
